During the 2014 - 2015 academic year, I worked with a technology pilot program for the district. During this program I worked with a social studies class at Edison High School. This class utilized telepresence technology to have the two classes run simultaneously. During this program I was able to engage with another class to ensure that my students had access to another class, and were able to exchange ideas with their peers in another class. This provided my students a new exchange of ideas with new students.
This program was a very successful program, and provided the class with new ideas and peers that they would not have been exposed to. This also provided me the ability to interact with another teacher, and observe their teaching.
I was able to watch this teacher embed his current events into a historical context and to ensure that every student and all the information provided was both historical and contextualized in modern terms. He was very successful at creating relevant lessons that were engaging and focused on the historical and current social, economic and political context.
